Bio

Matt has been teaching since 2009, originally starting off in Wiltshire with the arts charity “Can Do”. Since then he moved to Exeter and became involved with the local music scene, collaborating with over 35 artists (including The Voice UK star Hannah Berney). He also regularly performed with his band Black Coffee in Devon, recording an EP with the producer of Robert Plant‘s (Led Zeppelin) solo albums.

Whilst gaining a BA Hons in Drama from the University of Exeter, Matt geared his degree towards musical roles, musically directing and composing for eight large-scale shows (including two at the Northcott Theatre). He also wrote and recorded theme music for National TV Show Cardiff’s Got Talent. He was also active in youth arts projects, running drama workshops for Bigfoot Arts, Vital Spaces and Devon Youth Theatre.

After university, Matt remained in Exeter to continue playing local events, and to run live music nights for The Sorry Head and Exeter Phoenix. He now sees around 40-50 students on a regular basis, and recently hit 100 overall students.

Matt plays in several different bands, including The Pookas and The Cat Hardy Jazz Band. His own band, The Matt Pocock Trio, have been gigging in Devon since 2011 with their own style of funk, soul, and blues. He has played most recently at Exeter Phoenix, as well as: Aeon Festival, Bovey Castle, The Bikeshed Theatre and The Firehouse.

Matt prides himself on being approachable, patient and most importantly structured with his singing lessons, whether you’re a complete beginner or if you’ve been singing for years!
